Polotechnics: Plutonian Summer

Polotechnics returns for a radiant summer edition. Co-presented with Kaleidoscope, a collective committed to promoting truth and integrity in the art of electronic music, this event continues the mission to spotlight both international icons and underground voices from the diaspora and beyond.
Taking its name from Dan Curtin’s cosmic track “Plutonian Summer,” in this edition every artist will present a fully live hardware set— with high-energy dance beats, analog heat, and genre-defying soundscapes. From EBM to acid, electro to techno, Polotechnics is a convergence of sonic vibrations that awaken the spirit and expand the horizons of underground techno and electronic soundscapes.
Dan Curtin (Berlin/Cleveland)
A trailblazer in electronic music for over 30 years, Dan Curtin’s catalog spans seminal releases on Peacefrog, Mobilee, and his own Metamorphic Recordings. His sets blend deep knowledge with infectious rhythm — journeys through time, space, and emotion. His track “Plutonian Summer” offers the perfect thematic anchor: futuristic, warm, and endlessly expansive.
Cosmic JD (Toronto)
A key presence within Toronto’s underground community, Cosmic JD has been furthering the local scene from both sides of the booth as both performer and promoter. The Colombian native’s Hypnotic Mindscapes collective curates intimate gatherings with advanced house and techno, often offering a forward-thinking program featuring first-time Toronto or Canada performances for international artists. The collective also releases musical works with unique blends of styles somewhere there in the spectrum of techno, house, electro and beyond, through which the Hypnotic Mindscapes crew has become a Toronto staple when it comes to all things unconventional. When playing records or performing all-hardware live sets, a fastidious attention to detail and selection has shone a spotlight on Cosmic JD’s sets and made him a frequenter amongst cities such as Barcelona, Berlin, Montréal, Toronto, and more. On the production side of things, JD’s work has gone on to release via various labels including Seekers, Subsequent, Mercure, Varme, and most recently, Japanese imprint Amidst. Evidently a talent behind the decks, in the studio, and behind the scenes, JD is an artist of many mediums, and one to keep an eye on.
Mode-x
Mode_X_ is an underground techno artist on a deep creative journey, exploring hypnotic soundscapes and cerebral rhythms. Their work channels raw emotion and introspection, drawing listeners into immersive states of mind.
With a focus on the cyclical nature of thought and the textures of inner experience, they craft sonic landscapes that blur the line between the physical and the psychological—inviting deep listening and reflection
